Mike Traves gave the Fergus Devils a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Alliston Hornets when he scored 3:35 into the extra period.

Fergus nearly gave up a two-score lead. The Devils made it 3-1 on a power play goal by Patrick Snell at 19:21 in the second period. Alliston pulled to within 3-2 on a goal by Jamie Bennett at 1:28 in the third period.

Traves and James Murray provided the spark for Fergus, combining for two goals and four assists. Traves tallied one goal and two assists and Murray also notched one goal and two assists.

The Devils forced the Hornets' goaltenders to work all game long, racking up 41 shots and forcing 37 saves. TJ Sherwood made 12 stops and Tyler Brindle made 25.

Fergus additionally got points from Murray, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Jack Vautour also scored for Fergus. In addition, Fergus received assists from Ben Roelofson, who had two.

Alliston could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Hornets average 5.1 goals per game. Alliston forced Fergus goalie Alex Elliott to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Alliston also got a goal from Steve Griggs as well. More assists for Alliston came via Jacob Tuck, who had three and Payton Dunlop and Matt Cochrane, who contributed one each.

Elliott recorded 35 saves for the Devils. Fergus incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Devils, Matthew Clarke was ejected from the game. The Hornets incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Alliston ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Joe Cochrane was ejected from the game.
