Penetang survives penalties, beats Stayner, 5-2

The Stayner Siskins failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Penetang Kings shook off a number of penalties to win, 5-2.

Penetang was paced by Michael Paul, who had one goal. Paul scored 9:08 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Penetang. Mackenzie Bumstead picked up the assist.

The Kings forced Stayner goalie Trevor Bloch to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Penetang could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Penetang additionally got points from Hayden Cole, who also finished with one goal and one assist and David Pearce, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Penetang included Jordan Schwartz and Craig Robinson, who scored one goal each. More assists for Penetang came via Kyle Burns, who had two and Brandon Frandsen, Nate Archer, Brad Kuepfer, and Matt Meher, who each chipped in one.

The Siskins kept the Kings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Adam Redgate made 33 saves on 35 shots.

Stayner was led by Sean Healy, who registered one goal and one assist. Healy scored 4:19 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Penetang. Quinten Bruce assisted on the tally. Stayner also got a goal from Ben Lougheed as well. Other players who recorded assists for Stayner were Derick Robertson, who had one.

Penetang registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. Trevor Bloch made 29 saves for the Siskins on 33 shots. Stayner incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors.
