Fergus rolls over Schomberg, 4-1

The Schomberg Cougars had trouble finding ways to stop the Fergus Devils, which beat Cougars, 4-1.

Fergus was led by goalie Alex Elliott, who finished with 40 saves while allowing one goal. Elliott certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.39 entering the contest.

The Devils' penalty kill excelled, as Fergus gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

The Devils forced Schomberg goalie Taylor Ewart to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Fergus was helped by Jack Vautour, who racked up one goal. Vautour scored on the power play 10:23 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Fergus. The Devils earned a power play opportunity when Lucas Stanghieri AP was put in the box for cross checking. Ben Roelofson provided the assist. Fergus additionally got points from Roelofson, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Fergus also got a goal from Joshua Schafer as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fergus were Mikael Ruffini, who had one, James Murray, who had two, and Brock Heshka, who had three.

The Cougars did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Schomberg puts an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game. The Cougars' offense rang up 41 shots on Fergus' net.

Schomberg was led by Brandon Yorke, who scored the team's only goal. Yorke scored on the power play 13:45 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Fergus. The Cougars had gotten the advantage when the Devils' Dominic Wealthall was sent off for tripping. Tristan Joseph assisted on the tally.

Fergus incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Schomberg's Ewart stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Cougars incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
