Orillia vanquishes Penetang in shootout, 4-3 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Orillia Terriers defeated the Penetang Kings in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured 16 attempts between both teams. Penetang got a shootout goal from Matt Meher. In addition to the clincher, Orillia got a shootout goal from Jacob Beard.

The Terriers came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Orillia fell behind 3-2 after a power play goal by the Kings' Brandon Frandsen at 19:38 in the second period. The Terriers knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Ryan Tucci at 19:52 in the third period.

Tucci had a great game for Orillia, netting two goals.

The Terriers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Orillia also got a goal from Jason Binnie as well. More assists for Orillia came via Greg Buchanan, who had one, Beard, who had two, and Brock Welsh, who had three.

Penetang forced Orillia goalie Gordie Weiss to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.

The Kings were helped by David Pearce, who racked up one goal. Pearce scored short handed 19:14 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Penetang was on a disadvantage when Kyle Burns went off the ice for interference. Hayden Cole picked up the assist. Jordan Schwartz also scored for Penetang. In addition, Penetang received assists from Craig Robinson, who had one.

Weiss recorded 41 saves for the Terriers. Orillia registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Martin Lauzon made 22 saves for the Kings on 25 shots. Penetang incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
