Penetang wins tough contest against Midland, 5-3

The game between the Penetang Kings and the Midland Flyers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Penetang emerged with a 5-3 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Ryan Hackett secured the win for the Kings with a goal in the third period.

Penetang was sparked by Hackett, who registered one goal. Hackett scored 9:45 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Penetang. Brandon Frandsen assisted on the tally.

Penetang additionally got points from Frandsen, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Brad Kuepfer, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Matt Meher, who also had one goal and one assist, and Matt VanBoven, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Penetang were David Pearce, who had two and Hayden Cole, Jordan Schwartz, and Michael Paul, who each chipped in one.

Midland stifled the Kings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Flyers were led by Ben Hughes, who racked up one goal and one assist. Hughes scored on the power play 10:12 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Midland had gotten the advantage when Penetang's Craig Robinson was sent off for tripping. Evan Buehler provided the assist. Others who scored for Midland included Nick Heins and Bobby Logan, who scored one goal each. More assists for Midland came via Tully Jackson and Jon Goldsworthy, who contributed one each.

Adam Redgate rejected 24 shots on goal for the Kings. Penetang incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Brandon Klerer recorded 25 saves for the Flyers. Midland incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
