Caledon wins tough contest against Erin, 6-4Erin Community Center Sat, Oct 04, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Caledon Golden Hawks escaped with a 6-4 victory over the Erin Shamrocks. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Alex Palumbo secured the win for Caledon with a goal in the third period. Christian Bonaldi had two goals and one assist to lead the Golden Hawks. Bonaldi scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 17:52 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Caledon. Caledon had gained a power play chance when Josh Tremblay was whistled for roughing. Cody Forgione assisted on the tally. Bonaldi's next tally on the power play made the score 6-4 Caledon with four seconds left in the third period. Erin's power play was ineffective against the Golden Hawks' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Caledon was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 39 minutes in penalty time. The Golden Hawks surpassed its season average of 32.0 penalty minutes per game. Caledon excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Golden Hawks' offense rang up 33 shots on the Shamrocks' net.
