Robinson's big game bests Caledon in 7-1 Penetang win

Craig Robinson had two goals and two assists to lead the Penetang Kings to a 7-1 victory over the Caledon Golden Hawks.

Robinson scored on the power play at 9:11 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Penetang and again while 9:49 into the third to make the score 6-1 Penetang.

Caledon was stymied by Penetang's netminder Martin Lauzon, who stopped 33 shots during the victory. Lauzon managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.67 prior to the game.

The Golden Hawks were unable to stop the Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Penetang eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. The Kings outdid their season average for goals scored. Penetang averages 4.8 goals per game.

Penetang additionally got points from Nate Archer, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Penetang included Brandon Frandsen, Matt Meher, David Pearce, and Matt VanBoven, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Penetang were Jessey Moreau, who had three and Kyle Burns, Jordan Schwartz, Brad Kuepfer, Ryan Hackett, and Michael Paul, who contributed one each.

Caledon's offense rang up 34 shots on the Kings' net. The Golden Hawks' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Caledon finished with 30 penalty minutes.

The Golden Hawks were led by James Pitsadiotis, who scored the team's only goal. Pitsadiotis scored on the power play 14:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Caledon. Caledon had gotten the advantage when Penetang's Meher was sent off for hooking. Derek Czech picked up the assist.

The Kings incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Golden Hawks' Sam Procopio stopped 27 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Caledon registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
