Midland uses shootout to best Erin, 3-2 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Midland Flyers defeated the Erin Shamrocks in a shootout 3-2 (2-1 SO).

The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams. Erin's shootout goal was scored by Adam Gibson. Midland also got a shootout goal from Bobby Logan.

The Flyers saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Midland made the score 3-1 on a goal by Justin Dueck at 2:23 in the third period. The Shamrocks evened things up at 1-1 on a goal by Chris Grenier at 14:37 in the first period.

The Flyers' penalty kill excelled, as Midland gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

Erin was unable to stop the Flyers from sending pucks towards the net, and Midland eventually piled up 43 shots on goal.

Midland additionally got points from Steven Pickard, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Midland also got a goal from Evan Buehler as well. In addition, Midland received assists from Jon Goldsworthy, Logan, and Jimmy Walter, who contributed one each.

The Shamrocks stifled the Flyers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Ben Nicolucci also scored for Erin. More assists for Erin came via Gibson and Joe Heath, who each chipped in one.

Brandon Klerer recorded 23 saves for Midland. The Flyers incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Erin's Tom Denstedt stopped 40 shots out of the 42 that he faced. The Shamrocks incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
