Procopio stymies Fergus, Caledon wins 4-1

Sam Procopio stood on his head and made 31 saves to lead the Caledon Golden Hawks to a 4-1 victory over the Fergus Devils.

Caledon was paced by Gaige Van - Asten, who tallied one goal and one assist. Van - Asten scored 1:25 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Caledon. Steve Zeppieri assisted on the tally.

The Golden Hawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Fergus to score on any of its four power plays. Caledon kept the Devils' goalie busy throughout the game, and Alex Elliott made 35 saves on 39 shots. The Golden Hawks were often in penalty trouble, as it ended with six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time.

Caledon also got points from Christian Bonaldi, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Daniel Cafagna, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Caledon also got a goal from Adam Breen as well. In addition, Caledon received assists from Chris Smith, who had one.

Caledon was unable to stop Fergus from sending pucks towards the net, and the Devils eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. Fergus was hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time.

The Devils were led by Paolo Chemello, who scored the team's only goal. Chemello scored 5:00 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Joshua Schafer picked up the assist.

The Golden Hawks registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. For Caledon, Cody Forgione was ejected from the game. Fergus ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Dominic Wealthall was ejected from the game.
