Topham leads Erin over Caledon, 5-1Erin Community Center Sat, Sep 13, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Erin Shamrocks' Tyler Topham had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-1 win over the Caledon Golden Hawks. Topham found the back of the net on the power play 15:56 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Erin and again while 10:25 into the third to make the score 4-1 Erin.Erin's Mark Terry was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 26 saves and let only one puck past him. Despite the solid performance, Terry will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 1.0 entering the contest. Caledon's power play was ineffective against the Shamrocks' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. Erin's offense rang up 37 shots on the Golden Hawks' net. The Shamrocks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game. Erin was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to two goals off of 11 man advantages. Others who scored for Erin included Chris Grenier, Joe Heath, and Josh Tremblay, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Erin were Liam Adamson, who had one, Mike Nicolucci, who had three, and Travis Knight and Connor Mortimer, who each chipped in two. Caledon could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game. The Golden Hawks were led by Ryan Mouser, who scored the team's only goal. Mouser scored on the power play 4:45 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Caledon. Caledon had taken the advantage when the Shamrocks' Topham got sent off for cross checking. Cody Forgione picked up the assist. James Cyfko made 32 saves for the Golden Hawks on 37 shots.
