Dundas hangs on, beats Glanbrook 2-0

Alex Aquin scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Dundas Blues held off the challenges of the Glanbrook Rangers in a tough 2-0 win.

Aquin provided Dundas with the game-winning tally when he scored 6:56 into the first period. Zac Mihalis provided the assist.

The Blues were boosted by Brock Novak, who turned in a shutout with 36 saves. Novak certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.32 entering the contest.

Dundas was led by Aquin, who finished with one goal.

The Blues stifled Glanbrook's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Dundas could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Blues put an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game. Dundas' defense was surprisingly good. The Blues average 2.6 goals allowed per game. Dundas forced the Rangers goalie Matthew Venturelli to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Dundas also got a goal from Braxton Andrews as well. More assists for Dundas came via Mitch Moriarity, Matt Johnson, and Cooper Richards, who each chipped in one.

Glanbrook was held below its usual level of production. The Rangers average 4.1 goals per game. Glanbrook's offense rang up 36 shots on the Blues' net.

Dundas incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Blues, Moriarity was ejected from the game. The Rangers' Venturelli stopped 32 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Glanbrook incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
