Newcastle North Stars squeaks by Melbourne Ice, 4-2

Newcastle North Stars and Melbourne Ice were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Newcastle North Stars made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Beau Taylor's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

Cody Danberg had two goals and one assist to lead Newcastle North Stars. Danberg scored the first of his two goals at 13:00 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Newcastle North Stars. Matt Wetini assisted on the tally. Danberg's next tally made the score 4-2 Newcastle North Stars with 13:16 left in the third period. Matt Lindsay picked up the assist.

Newcastle North Stars pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes.

By firing 24 shots on goal, Newcastle North Stars exceeded the 2.5 shots it averages per game this year.
