Newcastle North Stars falls to Melbourne Ice after surprising comeback

Melbourne Ice climbed out of a one-goal hole to beat Newcastle North Stars, 5-4.

Melbourne Ice never led in the game until netting the game winner. Melbourne Ice trailed 5-4 after a goal by Newcastle North Stars' Jeff Smith at 12:34 in the third period. Melbourne Ice knotted things up at 5-5 on a goal by Matthew Armstrong at 15:09 in the third period. Melbourne Ice got the game winner at 3:44 in the third period on a goal by Armstrong.

Armstrong and Smith provided the spark for Melbourne Ice, combining for three goals and three assists. Armstrong had one goal and three assists and Smith also added two goals.
