Bourke nets hat trick, leads Melbourne Mustangs to 4-0 win over Sydney Bears

Jamie Bourke netted a hat trick to lead Melbourne Mustangs over Sydney Bears, 4-0.

Bourke notched his first tally 5:40 into the first period. He then added goals at 8:43 into the first and at 6:36 into the second.

Fraser Carson frustrated Sydney Bears' offense all game, and stopped 25 shots en route to a shutout. The solid play of Carson will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.51.

Melbourne Mustangs stifled Sydney Bears' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. With 51 shots on target during the contest, Melbourne Mustangs exceeded the 3.5 shots it averages per game this year.

Melbourne Mustangs also got a goal from Adrian Nash as well. Other players who recorded assists for Melbourne Mustangs were Brendan McDowell, who had two and Jack Wolgemuth and Patrick OKane, who contributed one each.

Sydney Bears put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Melbourne Mustangs to score on any of its three power plays.
