Lansing Capitals 18U survives California Titans 18U comeback, wins 3-1

Lansing Capitals 18U survived a determined comeback attempt by California Titans 18U on the way to a 3-1 win.

Lansing Capitals 18U took a 3-0 lead during the third period, only to have California Titans 18U storm back on a Connor Nilson goal 9:28 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

Lansing Capitals 18U's Andrew Kormos was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 28 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Kormos will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.9.

Lansing Capitals 18U's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five California Titans 18U power plays. Lansing Capitals 18U kept California Titans 18U's goalie busy throughout the game, and Nicholas Nast made 34 saves on 37 shots. Lansing Capitals 18U could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Lansing Capitals 18U was helped by Alex Rowe, who had one goal and one assist. Rowe scored short handed 3:12 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Lansing Capitals 18U. Lansing Capitals 18U found itself down a man on Alex Counseller's cross checking. Kieran Durgan picked up the assist. Lansing Capitals 18U additionally got points from Caleb Wortz, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Keegan Weckesser also scored for Lansing Capitals 18U. In addition, Lansing Capitals 18U received assists from Austin Kuch and Michael Rounds, who each chipped in one.
