Madison Capitols 18U squeaks by Esmark Stars 18U, 5-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Madison Capitols 18U escaped with a 5-3 victory over Esmark Stars 18U.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Kasey Fitzjerrels secured the win for Madison Capitols 18U with a goal in the third period.

Madison Capitols 18U got the win thanks to a great game by Eugene Fadyeyev, who had two goals and one assist. Fadyeyev scored the first of his two goals at 5:26 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Madison Capitols 18U. Phil Erickson provided the assist. Fadyeyev's next tally made the score 5-3 Madison Capitols 18U with 4:01 left in the third period. Brendon Gysbers assisted on the tally.

Madison Capitols 18U pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes.

Esmark Stars 18U was unable to stop Madison Capitols 18U from sending pucks towards the net, and Madison Capitols 18U eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Madison Capitols 18U was effective with a man advantage, and put in two goals while on the power play.

Madison Capitols 18U additionally got points from Jordan Fader, who also had one goal and one assist. Jules Vigy also scored for Madison Capitols 18U. More assists for Madison Capitols 18U came via Tyler Berndt, who had two and Nicholas Hames and Cole Hults, who contributed one each.

Esmark Stars 18U forced Madison Capitols 18U goalie Burton Rehm to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Esmark Stars 18U was led by Jon Dagnal, who finished with one goal and one assist. Dagnal scored on the power play 15:59 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Madison Capitols 18U. Esmark Stars 18U had gained a power play chance when Chase Mickleson was whistled for hooking. Adam Alavi provided the assist. Others who scored for Esmark Stars 18U included Austin Martz and Ethan Homitz, who scored one goal each. In addition, Esmark Stars 18U received assists from Kenny Dee and Matt Amelio, who each chipped in one.

Burton Rehm made 34 saves for Madison Capitols 18U on 37 shots. Esmark Stars 18U's Scott Trellis stopped 31 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Esmark Stars 18U incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
