HC Dallas 16U vanquishes West Michigan Hounds 16U in shootout, 2-1

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as HC Dallas 16U defeated West Michigan Hounds 16U in a shootout 2-1.

The shootout lasted for 10 attempts between the teams. West Michigan Hounds 16U got a shootout goal from Michael Kelley. HC Dallas 16U's other shootout goal was scored by Louis Helsen.

HC Dallas 16U overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. HC Dallas 16U was down 1-0 after a goal by West Michigan Hounds 16U's Jake Redman at 7:30 in the first period. HC Dallas 16U tied things up at 1-1 on a goal by Hunter Bersani at 3:42 in the third period.

HC Dallas 16U excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

West Michigan Hounds 16U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow HC Dallas 16U to score on any of its four power plays.

More assists for West Michigan Hounds 16U came via Christian Surns and Matt Behr, who each chipped in one.

Hunter Smith made 23 saves for HC Dallas 16U on 24 shots. HC Dallas 16U incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. West Michigan Hounds 16U's Lucas Chapel stopped 19 shots out of the 20 that he faced. West Michigan Hounds 16U incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
