Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U vanquishes Lansing Capitals 18U in shootout, 5-4

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U defeated Lansing Capitals 18U in a shootout 5-4.

The two teams needed 10 turns to complete the shootout.

Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U made the score 4-2 on a goal by Jonathon Pichedwatana at 9:33 in the second period. Lansing Capitals 18U evened things up at 4-4 on a goal by Caleb Wortz at 13:15 in the third period.

Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U averages 2.8 goals per contest. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on 11 chances. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

In addition, Lansing Capitals 18U received assists from Tim Sharky, Josh Kirsch, and Caleb Hite, who contributed one each.
