Omaha AAA 18U beats California Titans 18U 3-2 after comeback scare

Omaha AAA 18U survived a determined comeback attempt by California Titans 18U on the way to a 3-2 win.

Omaha AAA 18U made the score 3-1 on a goal by Conor Yawney at 14:29 in the second period, and California Titans 18U got as close as 3-2 when Frank Horowitz scored 7:21 into the third period.

California Titans 18U's power play was ineffective against Omaha AAA 18U's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Omaha AAA 18U kept California Titans 18U's goalie busy throughout the game, and Evan Robert made 34 saves on 37 shots. The defensemen of Omaha AAA 18U were also effective in California Titans 18U's zone, and came away with two goals.

Omaha AAA 18U additionally got points from Jarett Mari, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Phil Heisse also scored for Omaha AAA 18U. In addition, Omaha AAA 18U received assists from Cole Wild and Tristan Ashbrook, who contributed one each.

Omaha AAA 18U was unable to stop California Titans 18U from sending pucks towards the net, and California Titans 18U eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

California Titans 18U also got a goal from Connor Meaney as well. More assists for California Titans 18U came via Nathan Margeson, Connor Chilton, and Jack Reeves, who each chipped in one.

Lucas Van Dyke made 29 saves for Omaha AAA 18U on 31 shots. Omaha AAA 18U totaled 38 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For Omaha AAA 18U, Sean Stefaniak and Tycho Falk were ejected from the contest. California Titans 18U ended with 33 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. California Titans 18U ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Eric Weber was ejected from the game.
