Omaha AAA 16U pulls away in second, rolls over Pursuit of Excellence 16U, 8-2

Omaha AAA 16U scored three goals in the second period to pull away from Pursuit of Excellence 16U and clinch an 8-2 win.

Nicholas Caprio had two goals to lead Omaha AAA 16U to victory. Caprio found the back of the net 8:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Omaha AAA 16U and again while 8:29 into the first to make the score 2-0 Omaha AAA 16U.

Omaha AAA 16U forced Pursuit of Excellence 16U goalie Keaton Dyck to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Penalties took their toll on Omaha AAA 16U, as its penalty kill unit let in two power play goals.

Omaha AAA 16U additionally got points from Austin Long, who also racked up two goals and two assists to lead the team in points, Casey Gilling, who also tallied two goals and one assist, Dalton Gally, who also had one goal and one assist, and Ethen Frank, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Omaha AAA 16U came via Dane Johnson and Jaden Anderson, who contributed two each.

Pursuit of Excellence 16U was helped by Cayden Kraus, who racked up one goal. Kraus scored on the power play 14:20 into the first period to make the score 2-2. A holding penalty on Christian DiCesare had put Pursuit of Excellence 16U on the power play. Cassidy Bowes assisted on the tally. Alec Zawatsky also scored for Pursuit of Excellence 16U. In addition, Pursuit of Excellence 16U received assists from Matt Kowalski, who had two.

Maximilian Haselbacher made 13 saves for Omaha AAA 16U on 15 shots. Omaha AAA 16U incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Pursuit of Excellence 16U's Dyck stopped 23 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Pursuit of Excellence 16U incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
