McMurtrie's hat trick boosts Grimsby over Port Dover, 6-3

Andrew McMurtrie lifted the Grimsby Peach Kings to a 6-3 victory with a hat trick against the Port Dover Sailors.

McMurtrie notched his first tally 6:06 into the first period. He then added goals at 10:47 into the first and at 16:41 into the second.

Grimsby excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Peach Kings kept Port Dover's goalie busy throughout the game, and Horia Lucaciu made 31 saves on 37 shots. Grimsby found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Peach Kings average 3.3 goals per game.

Grimsby also got a goal from Matthew Jambrosich as well. In addition, Grimsby received assists from Trevor McEneny, who had two and Dillon Cipretti, Aidan McCreadie, Joshua Kozielski, Nicholas Purves, Curtis Conrad, Griffin Roubos, and Malcolm Lynett, who contributed one each.

The Sailors put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Grimsby to score on any of its 14 power plays.

Port Dover was led by Eric Mueller, who had two goals. Mueller scored the first of his two goals at 12:02 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Grimsby. Camden Freeman assisted on the tally. Mueller's next tally made the score 5-3 Grimsby with 11:33 left in the third period. Josh Turberfield picked up the assist. Bradon Roberts also scored for Port Dover. More assists for Port Dover came via Scott Stirling AP, Michael Almas, and Josh Meidema, who each chipped in one.

Fraser Kirk recorded 22 saves for the Peach Kings. Grimsby incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Sailors incurred 96 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Team's Almas and Meidema were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
