Lansing Capitals 18U beats San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U 3-2 after comeback scare

San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U tried its best to erase a two-goal deficit, but Lansing Capitals 18U would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.

Lansing Capitals 18U took a 3-1 lead during the third period, only to have San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U storm back on a Ryan Meure goal 10:40 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Lansing Capitals 18U pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 14 penalty minutes.

Lansing Capitals 18U was helped by Shane Dunsmore, who finished with one goal. Dunsmore scored 7:25 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Lansing Capitals 18U. Justin Riffel provided the assist. Lansing Capitals 18U also got points from Kieran Durgan, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Lansing Capitals 18U also got a goal from Alex Counseller as well. More assists for Lansing Capitals 18U came via Wyatt Beard, Josh Kirsch, and Austin Kuch, who contributed one each.

In addition, San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U received assists from Jake Stom, Ethan Jones, and Alexander Beckert, who each chipped in one.

Lansing Capitals 18U's Ricky Gonzalez stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Lansing Capitals 18U registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Devin Cooley recorded 23 saves for San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U. San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
