Pikes Peak Miners 18U uses shootout to best St. Louis Selects 18U, 3-2

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Pikes Peak Miners 18U defeated St. Louis Selects 18U in a shootout 3-2.

The shootout featured seven attempts between both teams. Pikes Peak Miners 18U also got a shootout goal from Jake Eubank.

Pikes Peak Miners 18U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow St. Louis Selects 18U to score on any of its five power plays. Pikes Peak Miners 18U kept St. Louis Selects 18U's goalie busy throughout the game, and Samuel Boyer made 28 saves on 31 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Pikes Peak Miners 18U was helped by Fedor Linkov, who tallied one goal. Linkov scored 8:31 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Trevor Paradise provided the assist. Luke Boose also scored for Pikes Peak Miners 18U. In addition, Pikes Peak Miners 18U received assists from Eubank, who had one.

St. Louis Selects 18U's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Pikes Peak Miners 18U power plays.

St. Louis Selects 18U was helped by Jordan Bratton, who registered one goal. Bratton scored 4:42 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Joey Rosa picked up the assist. St. Louis Selects 18U additionally got points from Rosa, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for St. Louis Selects 18U were Caleb Cooper, Mats Kozicz, and Shane Quinn, who each chipped in one.

Matty Taylor recorded 26 saves for Pikes Peak Miners 18U. Pikes Peak Miners 18U incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. St. Louis Selects 18U incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
