Lansing Capitals 18U uses shootout to best West Michigan Hounds 18U, 2-1

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Lansing Capitals 18U defeated West Michigan Hounds 18U in a shootout 2-1.

The shootout featured six attempts between both teams. Lansing Capitals 18U also got shootout goals from Ethan Stutzman and Kieran Durgan.

Lansing Capitals 18U overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Lansing Capitals 18U trailed 1-0 after a power play goal by West Michigan Hounds 18U's Kyle Prendel at 6:14 in the first period. Lansing Capitals 18U tied things up at 1-1 on a goal by Durgan at 3:24 in the third period.

Other players who recorded assists for Lansing Capitals 18U were Michael Rounds, who had one.

West Michigan Hounds 18U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Lansing Capitals 18U to score on any of its seven power plays. West Michigan Hounds 18U's offense was handcuffed by Lansing Capitals 18U's defensive play, and West Michigan Hounds 18U managed only 11 shots on goal during the game.

In addition, West Michigan Hounds 18U received assists from Jonah Oman and Kyle Berry, who each chipped in one.
