St. Louis Selects 16U vanquishes Arizona Bobcats 16U in shootout, 3-2

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as St. Louis Selects 16U defeated Arizona Bobcats 16U in a shootout 3-2.

The two teams needed nine turns to complete the shootout.

St. Louis Selects 16U pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 60 penalty minutes.

St. Louis Selects 16U's offense rang up 31 shots on Arizona Bobcats 16U's net. St. Louis Selects 16U excelled on the penalty kill, only allowing Arizona Bobcats 16U to get one power play goal on 11 chances.

St. Louis Selects 16U was helped by Dan Reuben, who tallied one goal. Reuben scored on the power play 6:33 into the first period to make the score 1-1. St. Louis Selects 16U had gotten the advantage when Arizona Bobcats 16U's Brayden Watts was sent off for cross checking. Justin Meers assisted on the tally. Ricky Smith also scored for St. Louis Selects 16U. In addition, St. Louis Selects 16U received assists from Tyler Hinterser, who had one.

Arizona Bobcats 16U found itself short handed often, totaling 58 penalty minutes and allowing eight power plays.

Arizona Bobcats 16U also got a goal from Alex Sprague as well. Other players who recorded assists for Arizona Bobcats 16U were Parker Coughlin and Landon Quinney, who contributed one each.

Kyle McClellan rejected 25 shots on goal for St. Louis Selects 16U. Ethan Middendorf made 28 saves for Arizona Bobcats 16U on 30 shots.
