Pursuit of Excellence 16U vanquishes Lansing Capitals 16U in shootout, 2-1

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Pursuit of Excellence 16U defeated Lansing Capitals 16U in a shootout 2-1.

The shootout lasted for nine attempts between the teams. Lansing Capitals 16U's shootout goal was scored by Rex Moe. In addition to the clincher, Pursuit of Excellence 16U got shootout goals from Alec Zawatsky and Cassidy Bowes.

Pursuit of Excellence 16U overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Pursuit of Excellence 16U trailed 1-0 after a goal by Lansing Capitals 16U's Luke Cornell at 5:03 in the second period. Pursuit of Excellence 16U tied things up at 1-1 on a goal by Matthew Kasowski at 12:23 in the third period.

Pursuit of Excellence 16U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Lansing Capitals 16U to score on any of its four power plays.

Lansing Capitals 16U could not produce up to its normal offensive output. Lansing Capitals 16U puts an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game.
