Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U blows out Omaha AAA 16U, 7-3

Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-3 win over Omaha AAA 16U.

Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U got the win behind a great game by Patrick Choi, who had one goal and two assists. Choi scored short handed 7:42 into the third period to make the score 7-2 Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U found itself down a man on Jack Sitzman's slashing. Paul Selleck picked up the assist.

Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U's penalty kill excelled, as Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U gave up one goal despite allowing 10 power plays.

Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U forced Omaha AAA 16U's goalies to work without much rest, getting 45 shots and forcing 38 saves. Mark Laken made 14 stops and Christian Herr made 24. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U has scored at the pace of 4.8 goals per game during the current campaign. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on nine chances. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 50 minutes in penalties during the game.

Omaha AAA 16U was helped by Austin Friesen, who registered one goal and one assist. Friesen scored on the power play 13:04 into the third period to make the score 7-3 Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U. Omaha AAA 16U earned a power play opportunity when Sasaki was put in the box for cross checking. Joe Krueger assisted on the tally. Omaha AAA 16U also had goals scored by Luke Suter and Tristan Ashbrook, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Omaha AAA 16U were Trevor Schroder, who had one and Kendrick Frost, who had two.

Timothy Huxen rejected 23 shots on goal for Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U. Omaha AAA 16U incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
