Esmark Stars 16U uses shootout to best Arizona Bobcats 16U, 3-2

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Esmark Stars 16U defeated Arizona Bobcats 16U in a shootout 3-2.

The shootout lasted for 12 attempts between the teams. Arizona Bobcats 16U's shootout goal was scored by Jonas Edwards. Esmark Stars 16U also got a shootout goal from Brendan Johns.

Esmark Stars 16U saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Esmark Stars 16U made the score 2-0 on a power play goal by Cam Williams at 16:59 in the second period. Arizona Bobcats 16U evened things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Trey Porter at 16:25 in the third period.

Esmark Stars 16U pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 18 penalty minutes.

Esmark Stars 16U's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Arizona Bobcats 16U power plays. Arizona Bobcats 16U's defense shut down Esmark Stars 16U's forwards for much of the game, and Esmark Stars 16U got off only 14 shots during the contest.

Esmark Stars 16U was helped by Alex Crilley, who grabbed one goal. Crilley scored 4:36 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Esmark Stars 16U. Cole Barney provided the assist. More assists for Esmark Stars 16U came via Nic Allen, who had one.

Arizona Bobcats 16U struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 26 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.

Arizona Bobcats 16U also got a goal from Trevor Wightman as well. In addition, Arizona Bobcats 16U received assists from Brayden Watts, Jake Garman, and Landon Quinney, who each chipped in one.

Tyler Kurtz rejected 14 shots on goal for Esmark Stars 16U. Sean Dickson made 11 saves for Arizona Bobcats 16U on 13 shots.
