San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U holds on for 4-2 win against Pikes Peak Miners 16U

Pikes Peak Miners 16U tried its best to erase a three-goal deficit, but San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2.

A goal by Tyler Buchanan put San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U up 4-1 in the second period, but Pikes Peak Miners 16U pulled to within two on Ross Hanson's tally 4:41 into the third period.

San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 30 penalty minutes.

San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U forced Pikes Peak Miners 16U goalie Joe Chekan to work between the pipes, taking 48 shots.

San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U was led by Evan Rittenhouse, who finished with one goal and one assist. Rittenhouse scored 2:09 into the second period to make the score 3-0 San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U. Eamonn Miller picked up the assist. San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U also got a goal from Sam Jenkins as well. More assists for San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U came via Jack Sullivan, Andrew Bascom, and Tyler Nelson, who each chipped in one.

Pikes Peak Miners 16U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U to score on any of its four power plays. Pikes Peak Miners 16U's offense rang up 43 shots on San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U's net.
