Huge game by Zawatsky boosts Pursuit of Excellence 16U over Pikes Peak Miners 16U, 5-1

Behind a great game by Alec Zawatsky, who had one goal and two assists, Pursuit of Excellence 16U defeated Pikes Peak Miners 16U, 5-1.

Zawatsky got on the board by slotting home a goal 10:23 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Pursuit of Excellence 16U. Kaleb Comishin picked up the assist. Zawatsky dished an assist on Matthew Kowalski's goal that made the score 1-0 Pursuit of Excellence 16U at 8:13 into the second period. He added another helper on Ethan Trampuh's goal that made the score 4-1 Pursuit of Excellence 16U at 7:31 into the third period.

Pursuit of Excellence 16U kept Pikes Peak Miners 16U's goalie busy throughout the game, and David Fessenden made 30 saves on 35 shots.

Pursuit of Excellence 16U also got a goal from Cassidy Bowes as well. Other players who recorded assists for Pursuit of Excellence 16U were Matthew Kasowski, Bryson Cecconi, Cayden Kraus, and Nicholas Demchuk, who each chipped in one.

Pikes Peak Miners 16U excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Pikes Peak Miners 16U was led by Ross Hanson, who scored the team's only goal. Hanson scored 4:31 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Pursuit of Excellence 16U. Martin Pietraszek assisted on the tally.

Keaton Dyck rejected 14 shots on goal for Pursuit of Excellence 16U. Pikes Peak Miners 16U incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors and had no power play opportunities.
