The shootout featured nine attempts between both teams. Team Illinois 16U's shootout goal was scored by Matt McShea. Compuware 16U's other shootout goals were scored by Alex Armstrong and Blake Tosto.

Compuware 16U was led by Tosto, who registered one goal. Tosto scored 4:05 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Compuware 16U. Jason Polin assisted on the tally.

Team Illinois 16U was led by John Shively, who scored the team's only goal. Shively scored on the power play 12:48 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Team Illinois 16U had gained a power play chance when Jhuwon Davis was whistled for slashing. Logan Kons picked up the assist.

Compuware 16U incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Team Illinois 16U incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
