Dixson leads Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U over Lansing Capitals 16U, 6-2

Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U's Justin Dixson had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing three assists in his team's 6-2 win over Lansing Capitals 16U.

Dixson got on the board by slotting home a power play goal 8:23 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U had taken the advantage when Lansing Capitals 16U's Grant Ledford got sent off for cross checking. Jack Gates assisted on the tally. Dixson dished an assist on Alexander Werdmuller's goal that made the score 1-0 Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U at 5:24 into the first period. He then added assists on Patrick Choi's goal at 14:41 into the first and on Justin Driffill's goal at 12:13 into the third.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 13:29 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U stifled Lansing Capitals 16U's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U also got points from Werdmuller, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Driffill, who also had one goal and one assist. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U also had goals scored by Declan Curtis and Ryan Gil, who each put in one. More assists for Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U came via Chad Sasaki, who had two and Julian Timba and Andre Ghantous, who each chipped in one.

Lansing Capitals 16U's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and two majors for 42 minutes in penalty time. Lansing Capitals 16U surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game.

Lansing Capitals 16U was helped by Zack Olen, who tallied one goal. Olen scored short handed 7:09 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Justin Zeiter picked up the assist. Luke Cornell also scored for Lansing Capitals 16U. Other players who recorded assists for Lansing Capitals 16U were Sean Millane, Riley Hestwood, and DJ Putnam, who contributed one each.

Timothy Huxen recorded 23 saves for Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-8 on the power play. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Choi was ejected from the game. Lansing Capitals 16U's Colt Hanks stopped nine shots out of the 15 that he faced. Lansing Capitals 16U registered zero goals on three power play opportunities. For Lansing Capitals 16U, Joseph Ullstrom was ejected from the game.
