Buhler nets hat trick, leads Pursuit of Excellence 16U to 4-2 win over Lansing Capitals 16U

Lansing Capitals 16U could not stop Pursuit of Excellence 16U's Aiden Buhler, who tallied a hat trick in a 4-2 win.

Buhler got on the scoresheet 7:17 into the first period. He then added goals at 5:38 into the third and at 16:53 into the third.

Pursuit of Excellence 16U pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 23 penalty minutes.

Pursuit of Excellence 16U excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances.

Others who scored for Pursuit of Excellence 16U included Matthew Kowalski and Cayden Kraus, who each put in one. In addition, Pursuit of Excellence 16U received assists from Matthew Kasowski, who had one and Riley Smoler, who had two.

Lansing Capitals 16U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Pursuit of Excellence 16U to score on any of its 10 power plays. Lansing Capitals 16U's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Lansing Capitals 16U finished with 40 penalty minutes.

Lansing Capitals 16U was led by Joseph Ullstrom, who registered one goal and one assist. Ullstrom scored short handed 14:20 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Pursuit of Excellence 16U. Lansing Capitals 16U played down a man on Rex Moe's elbowing. Max Trucks provided the assist. Lansing Capitals 16U also got a goal from Grant Ledford as well. More assists for Lansing Capitals 16U came via Riley Hestwood and Justin Smith, who contributed one each.

Logan Larock recorded 15 saves for Pursuit of Excellence 16U. Pursuit of Excellence 16U ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cassidy Bowes was ejected from the game. Lansing Capitals 16U's Colt Hanks stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that he faced.
