Chicago Mission 16U uses early goal to top Compuware 16U, 4-2

Joey Abate scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and Chicago Mission 16U held off the challenges of Compuware 16U in a tough 4-2 win.

Abate provided Chicago Mission 16U with the game-winning tally when he scored 1:14 into the first period.

Dominick Mersch had a great game for Chicago Mission 16U, netting two goals. Mersch found the back of the net on the power play 14:17 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Chicago Mission 16U and again while on the power play 10:59 into the second to make the score 4-2 Chicago Mission 16U.

Chicago Mission 16U was held back by its power play unit, which tallied two goals on nine chances.

Alec Semandel also scored for Chicago Mission 16U. Other players who recorded assists for Chicago Mission 16U were Graham Slaggert and Jack Vincent, who each chipped in one.

Compuware 16U was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 26 penalty minutes.

Compuware 16U was helped by Dominic Skrelja, who registered one goal. Skrelja scored short handed 13:56 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Chicago Mission 16U. Compuware 16U was on a disadvantage when Jhuwon Davis went off the ice for cross checking. Alex Armstrong provided the assist. Compuware 16U also got a goal from Patrick Smyth as well.

Chicago Mission 16U incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Compuware 16U registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
