West Michigan boosted by Vorva's play in net, beats Wisconsin 2-1

Hunter Vorva stood on his head and made 57 saves to lead the West Michigan Wolves to a 2-1 victory over the Wisconsin Whalers.

West Michigan was sparked by Devin Farkas, who finished with one goal. Farkas scored 18:29 into the second period to make the score 2-1 West Michigan.

The Wolves' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Wisconsin power plays. West Michigan kept Wisconsin's goalie busy throughout the game, and Chris Johansen made 47 saves on 49 shots.

Sean Smalley also scored for West Michigan. Other players who recorded assists for West Michigan were Steven Rhodes, who had one.

The Whalers were held below their usual level of production. Wisconsin puts an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game. The Wolves were unable to stop the Whalers from sending pucks towards the net, and Wisconsin eventually piled up 58 shots on goal.

The Whalers were led by Nathan Viberg, who scored the team's only goal. Viberg scored 14:25 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Wisconsin. Adam Alcott provided the assist.

West Michigan incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Wisconsin incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
