Texas rips Sugar Land, 8-2

The Sugar Land Imperials had trouble finding ways to stop the Texas Jr. Brahmas, which beat Imperials, 8-2.

Sam Gagnon had two goals and one assist to lead Texas. Gagnon scored the first of his two goals at 11:03 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Texas. Kurt Thiele picked up the assist. Gagnon's next tally made the score 4-1 Texas with 17:39 left in the second period. Mykyta Sheptytsky assisted on the tally.

Sugar Land was unable to stop the Jr. Brahmas from sending pucks towards the net, and Texas eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. The Jr. Brahmas' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Texas averages 3.6 goals per contest.

Texas also got points from Brock Brown, who also racked up two goals and one assist, Sheptytsky, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Thiele, who also tallied one goal and two assists, and Ryan Dunner, who also registered one goal and two assists. Austin Davis also scored for Texas. In addition, Texas received assists from Zach McPherson, who had one and Devin Pierce and Nick Ford, who each chipped in three.

The Imperials were helped by Ryan James, who had one goal and one assist. James scored 18:57 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Texas. Matthew Jung picked up the assist. Sugar Land additionally got points from Jung, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Sugar Land came via Matthew Winkle, who had two.

Joe Hacker made 18 saves for the Jr. Brahmas on 20 shots. Texas incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Sugar Land's Timothy OSullivan stopped 33 shots out of the 41 that he faced. The Imperials incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
