Limburg leads Metro to shutout victory over Southern Tier

Jamestown    Sat, Feb 21, 2015

Kameron Limburg recorded a shutout against the Southern Tier Xpress as the Metro Jets picked up a 4-0 win.

Metro pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 28 penalty minutes.

The Jets' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Southern Tier power plays. Metro's defense was surprisingly good. The Jets average 2.8 goals allowed per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Metro was helped by Ryan Bloom, who grabbed one goal. Bloom scored 7:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Metro. Andrew Sawyer provided the assist. Metro also got points from Pearce Vance, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Metro also had goals scored by David Chavis and Tyler Layle, who each put in one. More assists for Metro came via Cooper McLean, Jake Sealy, and Jason Newel, who each chipped in one.

Southern Tier's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and two majors for 54 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 28.0 minutes per game the Xpress had been spending in the box. Southern Tier stifled the Jets' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Xpress did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Southern Tier puts an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game.

Limburg rejected 25 shots on goal for Metro. The Jets registered zero goals on six power play opportunities. Tyler Geloneck made 18 saves for the Xpress on 21 shots. For Southern Tier, Niko Greco was ejected from the game.
