Billings falls to Helena in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Helena Bighorns pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Billings Bulls on a clutch goal by Kendall Bolen-Porter.

Helena was led by Bolen-Porter, who had one goal and one assist. Bolen-Porter scored on the power play 2:49 into overtime to make the score 4-3 Helena. The Bighorns had gotten the advantage when Billings' Nick Rizzo was sent off for delay of game. Nick Trefry picked up the assist.

Helena excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Bighorns forced the Bulls goalie Ray Smith to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.

Helena additionally got points from Trefry, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Helena included Kyler Chartier and Liam McDonough, who each put in one. In addition, Helena received assists from Brandt Miller, who had two and Brian Skillicorn, Matt Mohar, and Gavin Lubin, who contributed one each.

Billings' offense rang up 31 shots on Helena's net.

The Bulls were helped by Sawyer Scanlan, who registered one goal. Scanlan scored 16:11 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Rizzo provided the assist. Billings also had goals scored by Torin Foundos and Corbin Emery, who scored one goal each.

Grant Martens rejected 28 shots on goal for the Bighorns. Helena incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Ray Smith made 40 saves for Billings on 44 shots. The Bulls incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
