Rhodes' goals lift West Michigan to 5-1 victory over Chicago

Steven Rhodes was all over the ice for the West Michigan Wolves, as he tallied two goals in West Michigan's 5-1 win over the Chicago Junior Bulldogs.

Rhodes scored at 6:57 into the first period to make the score 1-0 West Michigan and again while 19:02 into the first to make the score 3-1 West Michigan.

The Wolves' Chase Stanford was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 33 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Stanford will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.29.

West Michigan put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Chicago to score on any of its four power plays. The Wolves kept the Junior Bulldogs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Sam Harden made 35 saves on 40 shots.

West Michigan additionally got points from Brandon Benaglio, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. West Michigan also had goals scored by Dakota Ulmer and Devin Farkas, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for West Michigan were Zack Lloyd, who had two, Ethan Stafford, who had three, and Michael Tratar, Tait Aptakin, and Kyle Keeder, who contributed one each.

Chicago was held below its usual level of production. The Junior Bulldogs average 3.4 goals per game. Chicago forced West Michigan goalie Stanford to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. The Junior Bulldogs could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game.

Chicago was led by Tyler Seltenriech, who scored the team's only goal. Seltenriech scored 8:47 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Ryan Maksimovic picked up the assist.

The Wolves incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
