The Point Mallard Ducks tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Topeka Capitals would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1. Topeka made the score 2-0 on a goal by John Crusinberry at 16:17 in the second period, and Point Mallard got as close as 2-1 when Josh Hamilton scored seven seconds into the third period. The Capitals were led by Crusinberry, who finished with one goal. Topeka stifled the Ducks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Capitals' offense operated below their season average. Topeka puts an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game. Topeka also got a goal from Tre Kautzman as well. More assists for Topeka came via Alex Sauer, Steve MacIver, and Richard Yusa, who contributed one each. Point Mallard could not produce up to its normal offensive output.
