The St. Louis Jr. Blues pulled out a 6-5 (OT) overtime victory over the Topeka Capitals on a clutch goal by Alex Klaesner. Topeka could not complete its climb out of a two-goal hole. St. Louis made it 5-3 on a goal by Sam Maddox at 7:37 in the third period. The Capitals pulled to within 5-4 on a goal by Drew Kelly at 17:59 in the third period. The Jr. Blues forced Topeka goalie Brett Malkmus to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. St. Louis surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Jr. Blues average 3.0 goals per contest. St. Louis also got points from Maddox, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Adam Havener, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Cameron McAtee, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for St. Louis came via Andrew Bond, who had two and Brian Schumacher, Sam Yauch, Daniel Dunaway, and Andrew McGlynn, who contributed one each. St. Louis was unable to stop the Capitals from sending pucks towards the net, and Topeka eventually piled up 48 shots on goal. The Capitals were led by Tre Kautzman, who had one goal and three assists. Kautzman scored 19:59 into the third period to make the score 5-5. Jack Cleaver picked up the assist. Topeka additionally got points from Kelly, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Topeka included Kyle Rimbach, Alex Sauer, and Steve MacIver, who each put in one. In addition, Topeka received assists from Colin OConnor, who had one and Alex Johanson, who had two. Cooper Cothran recorded 43 saves for the Jr. Blues.
