A hat trick by Tyler Zalecki was the highlight in Cherokee's 7-1 win against the Cincinnati Swords.

Zalecki got on the scoresheet 23 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 7:45 into the first and at 5:49 into the third.

The Toledo Cherokee forced Cincinnati's goaltenders to work between the pipes, finishing with 32 shots and forcing 25 saves. Brandon Kruger made eight stops and James Schroeder made 17. Toledo's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Cincinnati power plays. The Cherokee surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Toledo averages 3.3 goals per game. The Cherokee were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 34 penalty minutes.

Toledo also got points from Dominic Pisanti, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Mark McGee, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Toledo also had goals scored by Ted Austin and Eathan Resetar, who each put in one. In addition, Toledo received assists from Cody Estrel, who had three, Aaron Roschinsky, Kyler Omey, and Jimmy Howell, who contributed one each, and David Bogart and Michael Pisanti, who each chipped in two.

The Swords excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Cincinnati was led by Alex Olson, who scored the team's only goal. Olson scored 7:00 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brenden Williams picked up the assist.

Toledo's Glen Bates stopped 21 shots out of the 22 that he faced. For the Cherokee, Roschinsky was ejected from the game. The Swords incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
