Bengert leads Point Mallard to shutout victory over Sugar Land

Roman Bengert recorded a shutout against the Sugar Land Imperials as the Point Mallard Ducks picked up a 6-0 win.

Point Mallard was paced by Brad Reitter, who registered one goal and one assist. Reitter scored 10:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Point Mallard. Matt Darnell picked up the assist.

The Ducks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Point Mallard kept Sugar Land's goalie busy throughout the game, and Timothy OSullivan made 35 saves on 41 shots. The Ducks bested their season scoring average. This season, Point Mallard averages 3.9 goals per contest.

Point Mallard also got points from Josh Hamilton, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Killian Gray, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Matt Goodman, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Point Mallard included Jake Champaign and Chris Corgan, who scored one goal each. More assists for Point Mallard came via Jake Cox, Justin Provencher, Justin Delisle, and Justin Clark, who each chipped in one.

The Imperials did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Sugar Land puts an average of 3.0 pucks into the net per game. The Imperials' penalty kill unit could not stop the Ducks' power play, which converted on two of three opportunities.

Bengert rejected 27 shots on goal for Point Mallard. The Ducks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Sugar Land ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For the Imperials, Spencer Sabourin was ejected from the game.
