Sugar Land outlasts Dallas, 4-2

The game between the Sugar Land Imperials and the Dallas Jr. Stars was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Sugar Land emerged with a 4-2 win.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Ryan James at 17:09 of the second period.

The Imperials' penalty kill excelled, as Sugar Land gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

The Imperials were paced by Matthew Jung, who registered one goal. Jung scored 8:34 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Sugar Land. Aksel Campbell assisted on the tally.

Sugar Land stifled Dallas' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Jr. Stars were unable to stop the Imperials from sending pucks towards the net, and Sugar Land eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. The Imperials could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 40 minutes in penalties during the game.

Sugar Land additionally got points from John Cuni, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Sugar Land also got a goal from Ryan Meyer as well. Other players who recorded assists for Sugar Land were Mason Smith, Matt DeNure, and Timothy OSullivan, who each chipped in one.

Dallas put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Sugar Land to score on any of its three power plays.

The Jr. Stars were helped by Aaron Torres, who had one goal. Torres scored 11:43 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Sugar Land. Dalton Heggebo also scored for Dallas. More assists for Dallas came via Brandon Baker, who had one.

OSullivan recorded 28 saves for the Imperials. For Sugar Land, Matthew Winkle was ejected from the game. Dallas' Chance Turner stopped 37 shots out of the 40 that he faced. The Jr. Stars incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
