Shreve leads Metro over Cleveland, 6-3

Behind a great game by Kyle Shreve, who had two goals and one assist, the Metro Jets defeated the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks, 6-3.

Shreve scored at 3:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Metro and again while 18:42 into the third to make the score 6-3 Metro.

Cleveland's power play was ineffective against Metro's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Jets put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jr. Lumberjacks to score on any of their six power plays. Metro kept Cleveland's goalie busy throughout the game, and Alec Rounds made 43 saves on 49 shots.

Metro also got points from Tyler Layle, who also registered one goal and one assist, Jake Sealy, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Graham Day, who also had one goal and one assist. Metro also got a goal from Cooper McLean as well. In addition, Metro received assists from Pearce Vance, Jacob Rutkoske, Zach Koonce, and Matt Dempsey, who contributed one each and Alex Holm and Jacob Drinkard, who each chipped in two.

The Jr. Lumberjacks stifled the Jets' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Cleveland was helped by Zach Thibault, who tallied one goal. Thibault scored 6:36 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Mitch Renstrom assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Cleveland included Ryker Barber and Tyler Houmard, who scored one goal each. More assists for Cleveland came via Nathaniel Schwartz, Adam Schaffer, Avery Huibregtse, Tyler Dalton, and John Barlow, who contributed one each.

Metro's Kameron Limburg stopped 14 shots out of the 17 that he faced. The Jets incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Jr. Lumberjacks incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
