Cincinnati vanquishes Pittsburgh in shootout, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Cincinnati Swords defeated the Pittsburgh Vengeance in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured 14 attempts between both teams.

Cincinnati overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Swords trailed 3-2 after a power play goal by Pittsburgh's Gavin Cummings at 13:01 in the third period. Cincinnati tied things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Blake Hinds at 19:34 in the third period.

The Swords pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 18 penalty minutes.

Cincinnati capitalized on the Vengeance's penalties, netting two goals while skating with a man advantage.

The Swords were led by Adam Goudelock, who tallied one goal and one assist. Goudelock scored 11:56 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Chris Hubbard assisted on the tally. Cincinnati also got a goal from Jessie Fracassi as well. In addition, Cincinnati received assists from Brenden Williams, who had two and Gennadi Zabeline and Alex Birkman, who each chipped in one.

Pittsburgh got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Pittsburgh additionally got points from Parker Henry, who also had one goal and one assist. Richard Doherty also scored for Pittsburgh. More assists for Pittsburgh came via Cody Black, Bryan Hovanec, Michael Straub, and Yevgeniy Gladkiy, who contributed one each.

Brandon Kruger recorded 23 saves for Cincinnati. Jacob Stack made 15 saves for the Vengeance on 18 shots. Pittsburgh incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
