Estrel lifts Toledo over Cleveland, 3-0

Behind a great game by Cody Estrel, who had two goals, the Toledo Cherokee defeated the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks, 3-0.

Estrel's tallies came on the power play at 12:30 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Toledo and 4:53 into the third to make the score 2-0 Toledo.

Toledo was boosted by Glen Bates, who turned in a shutout with 26 saves. Bates certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.33 entering the contest.

The Cherokee's defense was surprisingly good. Toledo averages 2.5 goals allowed per game. The Cherokee's offense rang up 43 shots on Cleveland's net.

Toledo additionally got points from Tyler Zalecki, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. More assists for Toledo came via Mark McGee, who had two and Ted Austin and Dominic Pisanti, who contributed one each.

The Jr. Lumberjacks could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Cleveland averages 2.6 goals per game.

Toledo ended with no penalties and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Alec Rounds rejected 40 shots on goal for the Jr. Lumberjacks. Cleveland incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors and had no power play opportunities.
