Van Wyk's big game bests Cincinnati in 8-0 Nashville win

The Nashville Jr. Predators' Kyle Van Wyk had a big offensive game, scoring four goals and contributing one assist in his team's 8-0 win over the Cincinnati Swords.

Van Wyk got on the scoresheet 11:20 into the first period. He then added goals at 5:28 into the third, at 8:28 into the third, and at 15:58 into the third.

Nashville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Cincinnati to score on any of its three power plays. The Swords were unable to stop the Jr. Predators from sending pucks towards the net, and Nashville eventually piled up 50 shots on goal. The Jr. Predators surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Nashville averages 5.0 goals per game.

Nashville additionally got points from Ben Falk, who also registered one goal and one assist. Topi Samuli Aheristo also scored for Nashville. Other players who recorded assists for Nashville were Dominic Costello and Spencer Marchand, who contributed one each, Zach Greenwood and Nathaniel Chiarizzio, who each chipped in two, and Matiss Gelazis and Nickolas Tandeski, who contributed three each.

Cincinnati's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Nashville power plays.

Justin Ball rejected 17 shots on goal for the Jr. Predators. Nashville ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. James Schroeder made 42 saves for the Swords on 50 shots. Cincinnati ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
