Chicago stifles St. Louis' comeback, gains 5-3 victory

The Chicago Junior Bulldogs came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the St. Louis Jr. Blues, but did just enough to escape with a 5-3 victory.

Chicago led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Junior Bulldogs' Ryan Maksimovic scored short handed at 15:15 in the second period to put Chicago up 4-1.

Tyler Seltenriech had two goals to lead the Junior Bulldogs to victory. Seltenriech scored at 12:02 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Chicago and again while short handed 14:50 into the second to make the score 3-1 Chicago.

Chicago could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game.

Chicago also got points from Toms Taurins, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Maksimovic, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Chicago also got a goal from Niko Moulakelis as well. In addition, Chicago received assists from Henry Hearon, who had two and Scott Schroeder, Andrew Fattore, Matthew Adams, Dane Kalas, and Mike Holmes, who contributed one each.

St. Louis excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Junior Bulldogs were unable to stop the Jr. Blues from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Louis eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

The Jr. Blues were helped by Alex Klaesner, who racked up one goal. Klaesner scored on the power play 19:41 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Chicago. A unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Seltenriech had put St. Louis on the power play. Chris Brown picked up the assist. St. Louis additionally got points from Andrew McGlynn, who also registered one goal and one assist. Sam Maddox also scored for St. Louis. More assists for St. Louis came via Adam Havener, who had one and Andrew Bond, who had three.

Troy Pierce recorded 35 saves for Chicago. William Hindle made 24 saves for the Jr. Blues on 28 shots. St. Louis incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
