Southern Tier stifles Cleveland's comeback, gains 3-1 victory

The Southern Tier Xpress, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks and clinched a 3-1 victory.

Southern Tier led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Xpress' Cody Maulsby scored at 7:01 in the second period to put Southern Tier up 3-0.

Maulsby was all over the ice for the Xpress, as he registered two goals in the win.

Southern Tier pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 36 penalty minutes.

The Xpress put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Cleveland to score on any of its eight power plays.

Southern Tier also got a goal from Owen Harris as well. Other players who recorded assists for Southern Tier were Justin Andriaccio, who had two and Zach Hand, Isaiah Crawford, and Victor McCutcheon, who contributed one each.

The Jr. Lumberjacks struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 44 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.

Cleveland was led by Ryker Barber, who scored the team's only goal. Barber scored 15:32 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Southern Tier. Tyler Dalton picked up the assist.

Tyler Geloneck rejected 23 shots on goal for Southern Tier. Alec Rounds made 26 saves for the Jr. Lumberjacks on 29 shots.
